Considering the strength of your Wifi signal, all you have to do if you want to share your connection with your neighbor, is to give them your Wifi password.
If your houses are as tightly knit as they are, in case of apartments, then it should easy. However, when it comes to stand-alone homes, the situation is a little different and might require you to use a couple of methods to boost the signal for your neighbor’s benefit.
That said, it still isn’t a good idea to share your connection with anyone else as performance might take a hit. Of course, you can always pay more for a faster internet but that would effectively eliminate any savings that you might make from sharing one with a neighbor.
And then there are other complications which involve losing a connection when you need it most only to find that rebooting the modem and router isn’t a possibility especially if your neighbor is on vacation and hasn’t left you a key – for obvious reasons.
Which raises another question: how well do you know your neighbors in order to share an internet connection with them?
Are they trustworthy enough, comes to mind?
You never know how they might be using the internet connection whether against you or for questionable activities – for which, the latter might cause law enforcement agencies to question their online activity for yours.
Yet what sums up why you shouldn’t share an internet connection with a neighbor or anyone else is it violates the user agreement that you accepted with your internet service provider.
]]>Of course, this only applied to Microsoft services such as OneDrive but not for Google Drive or even Dropbox.
So, Google, in seeking to fix this problem, released its plugin that works with literally every version of Office and as far back as 2007. This includes the upcoming Office 2016 too.
With this plugin, you can open Google Drive in Office just as you would OneDrive.
Here’s how the plugin works with Office 2013:
Download and install Google Drive for Office as you would any other program.
Now open any Office program (like Word). It will prompt you to sign into your Google account. Once you do this, Google Drive will appear in the ‘Open’ dashboard for Office 2013 programs.
If you want to open a document, then just click the storage service’s icon. A pop-up window will open up and you can be editing the document immediately as soon as you hit ‘Select’.
This is only if it is in Office file format, of course.
One decent tweak that you can try using is clicking on Google Drive> Settings and selecting ‘Microsoft Office files only’. Click ‘Close’.
The reason for this is it makes no sense to see files in the Google Drive format as you cannot open with Office anyways.
The plugin also adds basic features in the Office Ribbon namely save to and open a Drive document, share, rename, move among others.
As for Dropbox, they’re yet to release a similar plugin just as Google has. There is a third-party script that solve this. Look for a tutorial by How To Geek for this.

Google doesn’t have to be the search engine of choice when it comes to your Android phone.
Reason being: if you are currently using Google Launcher, then there’s a clever way by which you can use DuckDuckGo, Bing or even search directly when using Firefox.
Speaking of the Google Now Launcher, which works on Android devices using 4.1 Jelly Bean or above. All you have to do is hold the home button while swiping up to go into Search.
Usually, the action on your device to open search depends on the software and hardware.
If you install another search app, Android will ask you which one you would like to use by default.
As for the Firefox app for Android, it asks you if you’d like to use Firefox Search and then takes you to that page. Of course, if you want to use another search engine, all you have to adjust it in the browser rather than the app.
Now, if you want to switch back to Google Search, you’ll have to reset it in app preferences. For this, go to Settings>Apps and select the app that you’d like change the settings in. All you have to do is touch the ‘Clear Defaults’.
Also, if you want to reset all defaults, go to Settings and Apps and select ‘Reset App Preferences’. Remember that this will reset everything include the search app that you are using such as browsers, email and music player and so on and so forth.

It’s been a few months riddled with controversy, tweaking and teasing after Firefox has placed its native ads on the “New Tab” page.
Regardless of what you think, they aren’t so bad really.
From one’s first impression of these ads, it is clear that they limit the attention drawn to them as much as possible, are labeled with clarity and avoid collecting user data that is personally identifiable.
What is also clear is that they have stopped depending on Google, which does collect personal data, and this can only mean a good thing for the future.
However, despite all these positive aspects, not everyone is interested in seeing these ads. Keeping the pro-choice and pro-privacy tradition, Mozilla has also provided an option for people to disable these ads too.
This involves a small number of steps to carry out. First, open a new tab and then click on the gear cog which is located on the upper right hand corner of the page. Three options will appear and which include Classic, Bland and Enhanced.
Just remember that the ads only appear when the Enhanced option is selected, and which has been enabled by Mozilla by default.
If you select the Classic option, it will display all the sites that you’ve visited in the past while the Blank option will include just a blank page. You won’t have to worry about aggregate information being collected once you disable the Enhanced tiles either.
And that’s it. You won’t have to see ads anymore from here on. But there’s one thing that you should keep in mind: Mozilla needs funds in order to continue developing Firefox and for which these ads have been placed.
That said, and before you turn it off, think twice because these ads aren’t so bad on the eyes either.
